Introduction I wanted to be an astronaut. This ambition drove me to age 24, when I had to make a career choice and I decided against the path that would have lead me to the fulfillment of my dream. While I made the wiser choice, some dreams do die hard. After a stint in first California then Texas designing semiconductors that are still used today in many electronic devices, I had an opportunity to work for 2 years in Germany. I had just received my MS in Physics and as work and night school had put a real cramp in my social life (i.e. no real romantic ties), I thought I would enjoy the adventure. I was only 29, and that was over 20 years ago. My life since, married to a German-Italian, living in the Netherlands with two trilingual daughters, and chafing at my role as full-time Mom, will be fodder for this blog.
