Introduction Hello everyone! Well I have no political experience at all. I am over 18 years old but I have not voted at all in my life. I just feel like there isn't a person or candidate out there that I could fully support. For me, voting is choosing the lesser of two evils...harsh I know, but it's how I feel. I am taking this class because I need it in order to complete my 6 credit hours of government for Texas State's Nursing Program (I'm going to be a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist when I grow up). I've taken U.S Government during the summer and before that semester I had no interest in government or politics. Since that class, it has taught me a lot of interesting information which has sparked my interest in this subject. What I'm hoping to get out of this class is that I'll have a greater understanding of how our government works especially at the state level and especially with the state of Texas. Just like the U.S. government class I'm sure I'll be learning a lot of interesting information about Texas state and local government. Thanks for stopping by and remember there is always light at the end of the tunnel!
Interests I am NOT affiliated with any political party; however, I do like the idea of universal health care that some countries like Canada, France, and Sweeden have. I also like the fact that the last two countries mentioned also offer their citizens a free education. And yes, I know, these citizens in these countries pay very high taxes to have these luxuries but they don't seem to have high unemployment rates like the U.S. so I wouldn't mind paying high taxes as long as I'm able to live comfortably and have free healthcare and education.
