Introduction Jim Pekar is a biophysicist, brain researcher, and scientific educator. In 2015 he was made a Fellow of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) in recognition of his contributions to the development of methods for the acquisition and analysis of magnetic resonance data reporting on brain physiology and function. He has published more than one hundred peer-reviewed scientific papers and has twice received the Outstanding Teacher Award from the ISMRM. Jim received a B.S. in physics from MIT, a Ph.D. in biophysics from the University of Pennsylvania, and postdoctoral training in neuroimaging at the National Institutes of Health.
