Introduction	I graduated from UT in May 2008 with a degree in Latin American Studies and a minor in History. Instead of going to work at a small non-profit as I had imagined, I faced a really grim job market (along with every other recent grad). My choices weren't great. With a young child, the prospect of working outside the home for little pay didn't seem worth the loss of flexibility or even the cost of childcare. I needed a goal, so after getting a friend's email gauging interest in a trip to Paris to run the Paris marathon in 2010, I decided that I was going to do it. My somewhat nonplussed husband greeted my announcement with aplomb and an obvious question --- "How are you planning to finance this little venture?" So in September I began a small cooking business as a way to finance the trip, only to find that I REALLY REALLY love doing it. (The cooking business, not necessarily the marathon part :) There are many cliches involving destinations and journeys, but for me I have found that the journey truly was the destination all along.
