| Introduction | Created for the purpose of spiritual evolution, my art is process based and conceptual in nature. By working in a manner consciously designed to disarm personal criticism and negative self talk, I give myself permission to create in an unrestricted manner which ultimately allows greater potential for communication with the divine spirit within. Major influences in my art include spiritual and iconographic traditions from across the globe. I also draw inspiration from simple rhythmic patterns found in primitive art which are often used in one of my favorite expressive forms, the sacred circular art known as mandala. Recent works also include large scale paintings of strong symbolic female forms depicting self actualization. Stephanie Smith is a visionary artist who manifests rhythm, repetition, and form in her work. She also utilizes her skills as an artist, writer, and teacher to empower creative expression within herself and to others seeking the same. Stephanie is currently a resident artist at The Banana Factory, an arts and education center in Bethlehem, PA and is currently available to work with individuals and groups. |
