Introduction I am a former middle school English / Language Arts teacher who completed my career as an associate professor of teacher education and Department Chair at the University of Illinois at Springfield. I have recently retired, and as part of this new phase of my life, I have vowed to get back to blogging, an endeavor that I undertook nearly ten years ago. I'll be documenting my life as a reader, weeder, and every other label i can slap on myself as I enjoy getting back to everything I could not do while I threw myself into the career I loved. I will always be excited about teaching and learning, but I am also fascinated by what happens in nature, whether or not that refers to things that make me happy or things that make me feel creepy.
Interests Literature, multimedia, writing of all kinds, gardening, being healthy, scrapbooking, music, dancing, nature, fishing, cooking
Favorite Movies The Princess Bride, Field of Dreams, Shawshank Redemption, The Scarlett Pimpernel, Arsenic and Old Lace, The Sound of Music, Holiday Inn, White Christmas, It's a Wonderful Life, The Women, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, O Brother Where Are Thou.
Favorite Music I have very eclectic taste in music, but I prefer music with good rhythm, harmony, and nuance. The songs on my Ipod range from Rosemary Clooney's "Where Will the Dimple Be" through Brad Paisley's evocative version of "What a Friend We Have in Jesus, " to Raul Malo's "Cold, Cold Heart." And there is always anything by Wagner. Anything. My dear sister taught me to love him.
Favorite Books Rebecca, A Day No Pigs Would Die, The Red Tent, The Last Time They Met, Painted Paragraphs, The Power of Place, Moloka'i. Oh where will this list end? Patrick Stewart's books ... there is not enough room ....

What is your favorite movie, and how would you change the ending, if you could?
