Introduction Katie Deits is an award-winning Master Photographer, artist, educator and writer. In 2007, she was a recipient of the South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowship for Palm Beach County. An arts activist, Deits mentors artists, advises art programs, lectures, exhibits, writes and blogs about art. She has a bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of South Florida, the Florida Degree of Photographic Excellence and a Master of Photography from Professional Photographers of America; has studied art in Italy and New York City; and has been on the faculties of Barry University, Palm Beach Community College and The Society of the Four Arts. She worked as a Palm Beach Post photographer before joining her late father, Bill Deits, to form a commercial photography and graphic firm. From 2002-2008, she worked as an editor for The Palm Beach Post and founded the “Discover Local Artists” column. She has served on the boards of Artists of Palm Beach County, Palm Beach Photographic Centre, Executive Women of the Palm Beaches, Northern Palm Beaches Chamber of Commerce, Executives’ Association, and on the art committee for the Community Foundation of Palm Beach and Martin Counties.
