| Introduction | I'm James (Jim) Bissland, author of "Blood, Tears, and Glory" (published in October 2007), a book about the American Civil War. Although Eastern battles--especially Gettysburg--have gotten the most attention ever since the war itself, I believe the war's outcome was settled in the Western Theater and most of all by Midwestern troops--the men General Meade dismissed as "armed rabble." I am a retired college professor, with degrees in history and mass communication. A native of New England, I have lived in Ohio since 1976. A Web site about the book can be found at orangefrazer/btg.
