Introduction I named my blog Grown Up Motherless Child because that's what I am. My mother died when I was nine, and it's taken long years to become who I was meant to be. Now, I work as the bereavement coordinator for a Dallas hospice, fortunate to be able to use what I have learned through professional training and life experience to help others. I am also an unpublished songwriter. Songwriting grew out of my need to express myself after my mother died. In this blog, I'll be telling my stories, and also talking about what I've learned from helping others.
Interests My young adult children, writing and performing music, learning piano, singing in choirs, reading, gardening. And I love my job.
Favorite Movies Comedies, chick flicks, anything Pixar, movies about music (Once, August Rush, Amadeus...)
Favorite Music Singer-songwriters, including Marc Cohn, John Mayer, Seal, Rich Mullins, Michael Card, many others Choral composers, including John Leavitt, John Rutter, Eric Whitacre, Morten Lauridsen, Mark Hayes, Robert Ray, and Joseph Martin. Classical, Contemporary Christian, Jazz
Favorite Books Too many to list. I homeschooled my kids for a while, and learned to love kiddie lit: all of the Harry Potter books, some by Tamara Pierce, The Chronicles of Narnia. I read Chicken Soup for the Soul if I want something quick and satisfying, books to help me with my work helping people with losses, self-help books, the Bible, and many more.
