| Introduction | Austin Smith is a studio potter working primarily in slip-cast porcelain. After earning a Bachelor’s degree from Bennington College in 2007 he returned to his hometown of Camden, Maine, where he is continuously inspired by the rich coastal landscape and the changing of the seasons. In addition to showing his work locally and across the country, Austin has received scholarships to continue his studies at The Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Deer Isle, Maine and has led workshops in ceramics at the former Lincoln Street Center for Arts and Education in Rockland, and the Hope Clay Studio in Hope, ME. He has been a resident artist at The Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts, Newcastle, Maine. |
