| Favorite Movies | anything Wes Anderson does. I cannot tell you how much he owns my heart. Nothing is lacking in his films. After that, Tim Burton is pretty good. I love Edward Scissorhands, Big Fish, the first Batman movie when I was 7. American Beauty. Movies that make good background noise for crafting, writing, or other activities: divine secrets of the ya ya sisterhood (no, i'm not ashamed. i have the hugest crush on ashley judd in this movie), clockwork orange, nine to five. my favorite movies to fall asleep to: i heart huckabees, the darjeeling limited. recent viewings: last night i rewatched eternal sunshine of the spotless mind and cried like a little baby. michel gondry is a darling. i loved the science of sleep. i might have to classify him as my second favorite director. oh, and then werner herzog. we have a love/hate relationship, but i'm fascinated by his work. it has more layers than an artichoke. we saw burn after reading this weekend. it was good. mark does an excellent impersonation of brad pitt's character. |

| Favorite Books | recent reads: the glass castle by jeannette walls, the splendid table's how to eat supper (possibly my favorite cook book ever), veganomicon, hip chicks guide to macrobiotics, steve jenkins the cheese primer and a book about cheese making (which kinda makes me never want to eat cheese again, even if i made it). Don't Let Me Be Lonely by Claudia Rankine, i'm interested and have read/heard things by thomas friedman, i'd like to read some of his new book. also, malcolm gladwell (thanks Rachel). Old favorites include: T.S. Eliot (i used to curse his name), sylvia plath, sharon olds, louise gluck, virgina woolf, j.d. salinger (franny and zooey melts my heart every time, my all-time favorite book), she's come undone, fair and tender ladies |
