| Introduction | When I was at University, I was made to read Michel De Montaigne's Essays. Once I got over the shock/anger that this man was responsible for inventing the concept of the essay, and therefore many hours and words of agony and suffering, I actually enjoyed them. Particularly the one "On Cannibals", which ends (after extended discussion on how organised and sophisticated their society is) "ah, but they have no breaches". I don't think I'll manage anything as awesome as that, but I'll try. |
