| Introduction | I am one of Henry and Maria Merzke's many grandchildren. They left this earth before I was born, but I grew up in their house, the house that most of their children considered home. I grew up with many of Maria's things around me including her large collection of photos. I've always treasure her things and considered myself to be the keeper of those things. My father loved to visit his brothers and sisters. I loved being with my father and went with him on many of those visits. Even as a young child, I was interested in the family stories. I listened carefully and kept them alive in my mind knowing that one day I would find the time to share them with others. |
