Introduction Jessica Piazza has seen some things. Terrible, terrible things. Her poetry collection, "Interrobang," is forthcoming from Red Hen Press in 2013. Her chapbook "This is not a sky" is forthcoming from Black Lawrence Press in 2014. She's published poetry in Agni, Indiana Review, Mid-American Review, Rattle, No Tell Motel, 32 Poems, Forklift, Ohio, National Poetry Review, Pebble Lake Review, Anti-, 42 Opus and a bunch other places, but she's enjoying fiction and nonfiction writing a lot lately and maybe, just maybe, has a little guilt about it. She's getting a PhD in Creative Writing and English Literature at the University of Southern California and is grateful for it, but...LA. Yeah. Sometimes she blogs for cool folks like Best American Poetry and Barrelhouse. Other times she helps edit the Gold Line Press Chapbook Series. Mostly, though, she hangs out with her dog Special, teaches USC undergrads how to dominate on the page and off, volunteers with ten-year-olds who are somehow smarter than she is, reads good books and watches bad TV. (Awful TV, actually. Don't judge.) You can contact her at jpiazza [at] usc [dot] edu.

Describe the sound of a moist waffle falling onto a hot griddle.

Please don't ever say the word "moist" again. I just threw up in my mouth a little.
