About me

Introduction Susie has spent her time in the Washington, DC area working for children. First, Susie advocated for school choice while working at Council for American Private Education. During this time, Susie volunteered a gazillion hours in the Children's Hospital ER and for the National Kidney Foundation NCA. Then came grad school at the Howard University School of Social Work and internships at Lutheran Social Services in the foster care unit and next at DC Action for Children. Susie was hired by DC ACT in 1997 and worked there for 11 years, helping create a robust budget analysis and advocacy operation. During the 11 years, Susie worked on a number of issues including homelessness, recreation, OST, early care and education, juvenile justice, and child welfare. After a short stint with the Healthy Families/Thriving Communities Collaborative Council, Susie started consulting in early 2009.
