Introduction The Genealogical and Historical Council Sacramento Valley and the California State Archives have partnered for 14 years to introduce the joy of family history research to the public. This free event is held every October at the State Archives in Sacramento. The 4th floor Research Room is transformed into a bustling educational arena centered on all things genealogical. All day, classes about basic genealogical research are presented by expert speakers. The State Archives staff lead groups on behind-the-scene tours of the "vault". In the Preservation Lab, Archives staff demonstrate how California's historic documents are preserved. Exhibitors representing archives and libraries; and genealogical, historical and lineage societies share information about their value and resources. Adding to the historic flavor of the day are many people wearing period clothing. We hope you will plan to attend and bring a friend.
Interests Family history, genealogy, history, old newspapers and maps, national, state and local archives and historical and lineage societies
