Introduction Greetings, I am Daniel R Davis and I write… Novels, screenplays, short stories, roleplaying games, I do it all. I also occasionally work special effects for independent film, make movies, and have a penchant for most things artistic. I’ve been writing fantasy and science fiction for somewhere around 24 years, but I’ve only recently decided to pursue publication. I like to call my years of continual writing practice for the present. Now I just need to finish a novel or three. Though every writer can always learn more (we never stop learning), I’m confident now that I’m ready for the wacky world of the published author. I write fantasy, science fiction, romance, and horror, in varying sub-genres and cross-genres.
Interests Writing, Art (most forms), Zombies, Singing, Making Monsters, Having Fun, Not Doing What's Expected, Role-Playing Games (the p&p kind), Woodworking, Cooking, Coffee
Favorite Movies The Princess Bride, The Army of Darkness, Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead '04, Pirates of the Caribbean 1-3, and about a million other films
Favorite Music Power Metal, Goth, Industrial, Some Techno, Some Punk, Some Death Metal
Favorite Books Sci-fi and fantasy, mostly. I'm not a big horror novel buff, but I did catch an audio book of a Koontz novel called The Face that I enjoyed, and I did read Watchers. And I own Night of the Living Dead in novel form and a couple zombie anthologies. Cell by Stephen King was a fun read too, though as with all King novels, the end left me unfulfilled and mildly annoyed...and don't get me started on the end of the Dark Tower series. My horror tastes are very specific and I don't like human/human horror or "slasher" style horror. Again, if I want to read about that I'll read the news. Most anything from: Piers Anthony, Terry Brooks, Terry Pratchett, Michael Moorcock, Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, Robert Jordan, Angus Wells, just to name a few, find their way to revered spots on my book shelves.
