Introduction Nine years ago, I discovered I had a food allergy to sugar cane. Thankfully, I have always loved experimenting in the kitchen, so I went to work trying to figure out ways to satisfy my sweet tooth and nourish my body, as well as provide sweet treats for my family (my husband and 4 children, ages 11 , 10 , 9 & 4). About the same time, I decided to begin grinding my own grain and in the process learned the benefits of eating unrefined foods. I love sharing the things I learn and recipes I create with those who share a similar passion for an unrefined diet. That said, I am not a purist...there are certain times where nothing compares to white flour and for the sake of a yummy dessert, I gladly pull my bag of flour out of the freezer and enjoy the wonderful flavors and textures. Other times, my desire for health wins out and the things I come up with contain nothing refined. Wherever you fall, I hope you are able to find some recipes that will add a spark to your kitchen.
