Introduction As a child, I grew up respecting the land, using it to its full potential but never abusing its resources. We ate from our garden year-round, heated our house with the wood of our forest, and hung our clothes outside on the line to dry. Spinning fibers into yarns, which then become clothing, seems a natural extension. With my mother sewing and crocheting many evenings into early mornings, I became aware of the consuming joy of textile crafts not only as a way to satisfy the creative mind, but also as a way of reducing waste and respecting the earth. By creating and manipulating textiles, I fulfill a fundamental desire to bring magnificent beauty to ordinary objects or everyday moments. My favorite scarf was knit while rocking my niece to sleep, with her head on my chest and my ball of yarn resting on her shoulder. Wrapping that scarf around my neck stirs up warm, safe, nurturing feelings that remind me of those precious moments. My life is recorded in the work of my hands. Revealing beauty so personally and fearlessly requires me to be a little bit vulnerable and even daring. Exploring fibers and discovering their potential is an ongoing adventure. I eagerly pursue adventures.
