| Introduction | When choosing a name for my business, I knew the word “impression” had to be part of it. My work has been influenced by the Impressionists of the late nineteenth century since I discovered them in college. They were among the first group of artists who broke the visual barrier of realism and added feeling to their subjects. My goal, each time I start a painting, is to add my enthusiasm for my subject and create a “lasting impression” for the viewer. Most of my subjects are created from my travels. In 2007, I discovered plein air painting at the Door county Plein Air Festival and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I still love working in watercolor as well as oil. I will be packing my watercolors with me on our upcoming trip to Europe. Several of my painting friends have created blogs to share their work with an audience, to get feedback about their work, and to encourage them to paint regularly. I hope this blog will accomplish all three. After teaching art all my life, I would love to get some feedback on my progress. |
