| Introduction | Born, reared, educated and wised-up. Up-sided, down-sided and blindsided. I'm the product of a middle-aged lifetime in Detroit, most of it spent in Detroit journalism. I was lucky enough to be part of the last great era in American newspapers, and went on to write for, then edit, a few glossy magazines just as that era was dying its ugly death. Two years ago, I'd had enough of a gruesomely corrupt and dying city that I no longer recognized, and moved south with my like-minded bride. We were looking for quiet, solitude and a more reasonably paced lifestyle. It’s here in Middle Tennessee, in the hills about 45 miles from Nashville. Our homestead sits on five acres of old trees that echo the sounds of nearby horses, cattle and roosters. Country life and southern culture suit us just fine. We got what we wanted, and I'd like to bring you along. |
