Introduction Hi, welcome to my blog. My name is Melanie; I have a wonderful husband and four gorgeous children. I have enjoyed working with clay for as long as I can remember and when I was pregnant with my first child I decided I would learn how to use a pottery wheel. I was hooked! Once completing my studies in studio ceramics at central TAFE in WA I joined Clay Feet, a contemporary ceramic exhibiting group. My work changed from thrown work to slip casting after participating in Designing Futures. I needed to move on from round. I started with white, then colour interiors and to colour bodies. I love the organic forms of Eucalypt seeds and leaves and the colours of the Australian bush, especially the flowers. I make limited edition gallery pieces, functional table ware and children's momentos (handprint tiles). As well as teaching adult clay classes in my studio, I teach art at a private high school and take on mural projects for churches and primary schools. My work is for sale at the Perth Upmarket, as well as a number of boutique outlets. So, somewhere in all that I am hoping to keep this blog as a journal of my work and to share my work with whomever is interested.
