Introduction After 30 years in art education guiding young people through the process of art, I am revisiting my own progression through the very questions I helped them answer. Great artists that were resources in the classroom continue to inspire my momentum. Edward Hopper, Winslow Homer, Georgia O'Keefe, Chuck Close, Miriam Schapiro, Richard Estes, Josef Albers, Janet Fish, and the Impressionists just to start!

Working between the challenges of watercolor and acrylic allows me different approaches that 'speak' about light and color. I keep returning to nature for inspiration. It seems to be the bedrock of my message that hovers between a reminder to celebrate our surroundings, and being responsible to something larger than all of us.

I am fascinated with accidental compositions discovered when dissecting a photo, or compiling subjects to tell a story. I always start with a drawing and then build layers of fluid washes that tighten as the painting progresses.

Painting joins the artist, viewer and subject in a moment of recognition that is moving and often joyful. Thank you for joining me in that moment.
