| Introduction | I have played a number of parts: exuberant child, secretive prepubescent, dramatically rebellious youth, poet, artist, adult. I have been a number of things to and for a number of people: daughter, mother, sister, friend, wife, lover, hag. In the wake of my mother’s passing and my own induction into motherhood I am trying to blend the colors together, fit the pieces, build the foundation for a future my children can understand. A future I can live; with winding roads and straightaways... I’m going back to the beginning, thinking on paper or aloud as I have in the past. Someday I want to sit quietly in wonder at the chutzpah and time it took to figure it out and smile. |
