Interests Humanities (especially the concept of "the humanities", or of "Western civilization" in a broad sense); more specifically, religious history and literature (especially British and Canadian), political philosophy, Canadian arts and culture (especially novelists and musicians), the highly organic and developed relationships between seemingly un-connected ideas or disciplines, the classic quest to see life and knowledge as a whole (unity in diversity, the idea behind the word "university"), and to find my proper place within it. Academic interests at the moment include the role and view of children in the early Christian Church, history of Eucharistic liturgy, and ecumenical dialogue (especially between Roman Catholics and Evangelical Protestants).
Favorite Movies The Hunt for Red October, The Great Escape, Roman Holiday, Star Trek: First Contact, Driving Miss Daisy (This should give a decent sampling)
Favorite Music Elgar's "Nimrod" (from the Enigma Variations); Beethoven's Fifth Symphony 2nd movement, as well as the Pathetique sonata; almost anything by Bach or Rachmaninoff for keyboard or choir; chant of any sort. Jars of Clay, Rich Mullins, Jacob Moon.
Favorite Books C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Robertson Davies, G.K. Chesterton, Alexander Schmemann, Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI.
