| Introduction | I am a historian of medieval Islamic medicine and pharmacy, an editor, a works-from-home mother. My hobbies, of various degrees of embarrassment to me, are reading, knitting and more recently sewing, and Harry Potter fandom, specifically Severus Snape. Am I fascinated by the Potions master because I research potions? In September 2014 I began to write a blog on LiveJournal because I had moved from Jerusalem, Israel, to Takoma Park, Maryland, for a year. Writing a blog seemed an easy way of recording my experiences and updating family and friends. After six months, I have decided to cross-post the LJ entries to Blogger, in order to allow people to comment without having to have a LiveJournal account. Hopefully, this will also encourage me to treat the blog as more of a blog, and not just as a repository for (slightly) anonymised letters home. |
