Which is more important to you and why: flexibility or expandability?

Flexibility in a rapidly changing world. We're at the forefront of history (sounds like the start of a valedictorian's speech), leaving a post-industrialized world for an entirely new economy, where the cleanest and greenest will be the most profitable. Now it's up to us to make sure we get there with as few aches and pains (devastation?) as possible.
