Introduction The Rev. Steven P. Sabin is the Senior Pastor of Christ Church, Lutheran (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) in San Francisco. Ordained in June 1985 by the LCA, Pastor Steve was the Pastor of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Ames, IA for 15 years before coming to Christ Church. Pastor Steve served as a national leader in ecumenical relations and has extensive experience in social advocacy and community development. Engaged in efforts to include LGBT persons in the life and leadership of the Church, tried by a church tribunal and removed from the clergy roster of the ELCA as a “practicing homosexual,” Pastor Steve continues to minister in parish and society in defiance of ELCA regulations Pastor Steve graduated from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago with a Master of Divinity degree. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a minor in Classics from the University of Iowa. Pastor Steve took his chaplaincy training at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago, and an internship at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester, CT. Pastor Steve's family includes his partner Travis, Kit the service dog, and adult daughters, Meghan and Claire.
