Introduction | I went to grad school for poetry but now consider myself primarily a painter. I paint landscapes and the occasional still life and teach art history and writing at two different colleges in New Hampshire: Chester College of New England and New Hampshire Institute of Art. In addition to teaching art history, I occasionally work as a freelance textbook editor for MacMillan Publishing and regularly write columns and reviews for Art New England. I am also interested in mythology and comparative religions, old movies, anthropological history of man and society, archaeology, depth psychology, natural history, music (I play acoustic and electric guitar, piano, and blues harp), fencing, travel, poetry of all times and peoples, and esoteric studies of all kinds. |
Favorite Movies | Anything by Alfred Hitchcock after Jamaica Inn (1939), Casablanca, Rope, Read Window, The Birds, The Trouble with Harry, Sunset Boulevard, Strangers on A Train, It's a Wonderful Life, any of the "On the Road" movies, anything with Cary Grant, Liz Taylor, Jimmy Stewart, Bud Cort (i.e. Pollock, Harold and Maude), Clash of the Titans (the original), the Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Lord of the Rings movies (yeah, I'm a sucker for that stuff) |
Favorite Music | Anything dreamy, ambient, or psychedelic, British downtempo and American post-rock, so My Bloody Valentine, Six Parts Seven, Stars of the Lid, Sigur Ros, early Pink Floyd, This Mortal Coil, Cocteau Twins, Lilys, Saint Germain, Starseeds, Aphex Twin, Tosca, Mum, but also Led Zeppelin, Chemical Brothers, Sonic Youth, Hendrix, Grateful Dead, Claude Debussy, Erik Satie, American composer John Adams, Gorecki's Third Symphony |
