Introduction Okay . . . I am a twenty-six year old male living in Eugene, Oregon. I recently moved here from Kansas City to attend the University's Medieval Studies Program. I love to study--currently I am working with several colleagues, from Oxford, University of Paris, University of West Michigan, and the University of Penn, on an English translation of Gregory of Nyssa's 15 homilies on the Canticle de' Canticles. This is proving to be a rigorous task--lasting quite a bit longer than anticipated; however, fun filled and exhilarating to say the least. I love peaty scotch (Laphroaig, Lagavulin, and sometimes Oban) and dark beer--I enjoy them even better with close friends.
Interests I will try almost anything--however, many of the things that I love most seem to be the hardest for me to master. I love to (try to, at least) surf, ski, play basketball, hike, bike, read. . .
Favorite Movies Top two . . . (All others eb and flow a bit) 1) Good Will Hunting 2) The Game
Favorite Music In enjoy almost any type of music . . . except for the "twangy" country and some rap.
Favorite Books Late Antiquity to High Middle-Age Classics--namely those dealing with monasticism, mysticism, philosophy, patrology, and hagiography. Favorite writers: Plato, Agustine, Gregory of Nyssa, Ambrose of Milan, Boethius, Gregory the Great, John Scottus Eriugena, Thomas Gallus, Bernard of Clairvaux, Anselm of Canterbury, Gilbert of Hoyland, Albert the Great, Bonaventure, Aquinas, William of Ockham, Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross, and many many more.
