Introduction Donald Patterson is a Stubborn--make that SOUTHERN--Baptist Pastor in California's High Desert. Just a few blocks from the Metro link Commuter Station, where their motto is: “LAAANNNCASTER! END OF THE LINE!” I've been preaching the gospel for over 40 years; pastored for 30 years. I grew up in SOCAL & did my SBC Basic Training in the Ozarks.
Favorite Movies No Time For Sergeants, So I Married An Axe Murderer, Raiders of the Lost Ark
Favorite Music Beach Boys, Beatles, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Don Francisco, Spin Doctors, Chicago, ELO, Moody Blues, and the list goes on... Although, I can't name a single song recorded since 1995. Why can't these kids today listen to good, wholesome, decent music like Jimmy Hendrix and Steppenwolf?
Favorite Books WRITER DON: I write articles, draw cartoons and am working on publishing fiction. I've finished two novels. I'm working on two more. I teach a writers seminar: A Firearms Primer for Fiction Writers. I'm slowly working on turning that into a book as well, but the market is sorta small. I've been to Glorieta Christian Writers Conference 4 times. and American Christian Writers Conference, Anaheim once. The conferences supply massive amounts of helpful tips and information. Better yet, you meet face-to-face with other writers, agents and editors. There is time to pitch ideas to editors and thereby bypass the "unsolicited manuscript" pile. Even better, Editors and agents get to meet YOU. Sometimes they even remember you. HIGH DESERT CHRISTIAN WRITERS DON: I am part of High Desert Christian Writers. We meet monthly to share our progress, encourage one another and critique our work. We have several NAME writers in this group. They come and go depending on schedule. Each May we hold the Antelope Valley Christian Writers Conference. In the last two years we've hosted Alton Gansky, Dorthy Howell, Ellie Kay, Jane LaMunyon, Lauraine Snelling, and Tim Riter. Looking forward to next years conference
