| Introduction | I'm Karen, flickr and IG known as CapitolaQuilter - because I live in Capitola, California, a little beach town with mild weather - the only kind I can handle! I learned how to sew in 4-H as a child. I made quilts only occasionally, taking classes and teaching myself new techniques. 2009 I discovered Flickr and the online quilting community and I quickly became an active participant in swaps, bees and blog-hops. In 2011, I became a founding member of The Modern Quilt Guild’s Santa Cruz chapter and joined the Pajaro Valley Quilt Association and in 2015 began creating improvisation blocks from prompts with Bee Sewcial. Collaborative projects and social sewing are among my favorite things to do. I love to incorporate scrappy into my quilts, enjoy melding traditional with modern design elements and embrace the evolution of my quilting journey. |
