| Introduction | I am sick. Sick and tired. I am a white man living outside of Philadelphia, and the racial hatred against blacks in Philadelphia is sickening. It's come to the fore during this historic -- and historically hateful -- election. Our local papers' website (philly.com) has added a comment function. Nearly every day I read about terrible crimes, often committed by black men and women. Then I read the comments left by white people, and the hate and superiority radiates from them like stink lines. I want to write about why this is. I want to explore it. I want to bring it out in the open. I want to hear what others have to say -- even if it's unpleasant. We're at a crossroads. Let's find the right path. |
