Introduction Winner of the 2017 Aquillrelle Poetry Publication Prize, Tupelo Honey & Other Tales, available at Amazon & B&N Joy Leftow is primarily a poet. Leftow coined the term, "Bluetry" to define her art. The term evolved from people approaching her to compliment or complain the sadness in her work. Leftow is a graduate of Columbia General Studies and Columbia School of Social Work. She has a 2nd Master’s of Arts in Creative Writing from CCNY. Leftow can be founding performing poetry to music when not meeting her muse or rescuing cats. My drive to write, create and share, defines my art. I write because I have no choice. My performances are an extension of my art, evolving like a child develops in the womb and his mother gives birth to him. Bluetry allows me to explore the tangents in my mind using free association. Bluetry mimics the blues – using my own style and experience. Using this free flow style residing in my subconscious is the creating glow for discovering and writing bluetry. The blues come through me and make me who I am. Taking artistic risks defines me!
