Introduction My friends love me, my family loves me, the animals with whom I share my home love me (yes, they have to since I feed them, but let me anthropomorphize please). Ultimately, that's what matters most. I grew up in the South, lived East coast, West coast, Texas (truly it's own world), and the Midwest. I'm back in the Midwest now. I love to cook for others. I adore gardening so that I get to play in the dirt and see nifty bugs and worms. Dirty has many meanings...Urban agriculture warms my soul and encourages my thoughts of the future. Food is truly integral to life--physically & mentally....thus, I adore (and am active in) the world of urban agriculture.
Interests Fuzzy companions named June & Lady & Kiki, friends, family, cooking, eating, gardening, bicycling (*wear your damn helmet*!), walking/hiking, knitting that consistently suffers from procrastination, wandering/ambling/exploring new places, camping.
Favorite Music As to music, my ipod contains most all genres...everything but hair metal & Shostakovich. Screeching sounds make me cringe. Latest rotations: Charlotte Gainsbourg, Sia, Billie Holilday, Buck Owens, Devendra Barnhart, Neko Case, Merle Hagard, Lena Horne, Keren Ann (I should re-learn French), Leonard Cohen, '80s mixes I gave up years ago but enjoy singing along with at the current moment. I'm trying to expand my pre-programmed radio stations (read, NPR), so am surfing the dials and enjoying WLUW on the air and CHIRP online.
Favorite Books Reading = love. I'm not reading enough outside of the news world lately--well other than random stuff about experimental economics and transportation choices. Michael Pollan. Dr. Seuss & Shel Silverstein. Sex Tips for Girls...All Wendell Berry...Leaves of Grass...Best American Erotica...Ogden Nash...John McPhee...Ursula K. LeGuin...Agatha Christie...Lots of periodicals...I'm a sucker for reading--cereal boxes included. I must add Barbara Kingsolver and Tom Robbins...oh, and Annie Dillard...oh, and Susie Bright.
