Introduction | I am retired psychiatrist with 40 years experience. In the Real Psychiatry blog, I correct the distortions about psychiatry that occur in the media. I analyze those biases that affect medical decision making in all specialties. My goal is quality medical care widely available and scientifically based. I also write this blog because over the years colleagues have asked me what I read in order to stay current in the field and I attempt to illustrate my process here including the specific resources. The opinions expressed here are my own and do not reflect the views of employers or professional associates. This blog is written for educational purposes and to stimulate scientific discussion. It is strictly noncommercial and not-for-profit. Nothing here is personal medical, financial, investment or psychiatric advice or a discussion of actual patients. Medical decisions are best made by direct consultation with your personal physicians. Like all blogs, there are links here to other Internet sites. The accuracy, safety, and authenticity of anything on the Internet is frequently a guess. I assume no responsibility for that risk. |
