Introduction	Assistant Professor of Communication Arts at The Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio. My academic background is in English literary studies and history and I hold a Ph.D. in American Culture Studies from Bowling Green State University. I am in the process of converting my doctoral dissertation Foods That Matter: Constructing Place and Community at Food Festivals in Northwest Ohio into a book manuscript. Foods That Matter examines the cultural practices surrounding foods presented at food festivals in Northwest Ohio. Finally, I am the father of two daughters who reluctantly accompany my wife, Michelle, and me on our culinary travels—you come too.
