Introduction How to describe myself? How does this sound: a meticulous, professional and slightly nutty lady who loves history. I take great pride and joy in solving puzzles, finding that missing relative, or uncovering a little known fact that turns just another old guy (or gal!) into the star of your family tree. First and foremost, I am a research historian, with an MA in History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My specialty was Medieval British history, and I still have a great fondness for that world. However, nearly twenty years ago I discovered US Civil War reenacting and have been hooked on that era ever since. I reenact with the 1st Oregon Volunteer Infantry/20th Maine, Company A organization, portraying a married lady of that time period. I am the editor and publisher of the group's newsletter "Volunteer Infantry News." In addition I have completed several graduate-level courses in US Civil War history, making frequent and lengthy trips to the East Coast to study battlefields and consult with experts.
