| Introduction | My motivation in my life is my dear daughter Maanasi. Maanasi has done her B.Arch. from M.S. University, Baroda. My motivation for the Prabhas Teerth Somnath Saraswati Yatra (PTSSY) has been my strong bonds with Gujarat, my Karmabhoomi. I am a Chitrapur Saraswat Brahmin. My roots are in Kanara, Karnataka, settled at Ahmedabad. More than 35, years back, during my days as a Medical Representative, I used to visit Sidhpur every month, crossing the River Saraswati Bridge on the Ahmedabad-Delhi Highway. I always wondered - has this river to do something with the origins of the Chitrapur Saraswats? I had to wait for over 33 years to get my answer. I am proud, very proud of my cultural heritage and our links with Gujarat. I was the convener of the PTSSY to commemorate the concluding function of the Tercentenary Year of Shri Chitrapur Math. I organized it with a desire to let the Chitrapur Saraswats know about their links with Gujarat, especially Sidhpur, which boasted of the magnificent Rudra Mahalaya, with 108 Shiva Temples, one of them being of Lord BhavaniShankar, the presiding deity at Srivalli. Another aim was to bring our faction-ridden community together. |
