Introduction | As far as being a Nephrology fellow goes, like most of us, electrolyte disturbances, and ICU Nephrology fascinated me. If I were to turn back the clock, I would not have chosen anything different (however, I would not want to turn back the clock, and most of the residents and fellows would understand why!) The kidneys continue to fascinate me. I find it enjoyable, how nephrologists share a common love.."the love of urine" and I do not hesitate to share it with my patients, to cheer them up, when they are on water restriction, salt restriction, phosphorus restriction, on the bed with a Foley in, how much we care for those drops of amber colored fluid and what it does to sustain life, cardiac rhythm and an osmotically balanced brain. |
