Introduction I crave rhythm and movement the way waves roll toward shore and prairie grasses bend toward light. To wash the dishes and curl my toes into the dirt, to shape dough into loaves and pound tomato stakes into the ground: This is work that breathes, extending the heart wide open. This past year has been an exercise in holding close the simple things—Nasturtiums poking through the window box, sun shining through solferino blinds (words like “solferino”), my puppy’s cold nose tickling my feet… As I adapt my goals to a more spacious and flexible path, I find myself drawn to images and color, to light bending through trees and shining through waterdrops. I find that photography extends what I know and how I see, pushing the boundaries of who I am and where I stand in relation to everything else… In my photographs, I hope not to capture or to enclose these precious “moments of [our] being” (to borrow from Virginia Woolf) but to offer up some small part of what these moments mean to me… I welcome conversation and look forward to learning from and supporting the work of others aspiring…to say/show what it is they see.
