About me

Introduction Since the only people I'm sharing this with know me already, there's not much to say here other than hello and welcome! For those that are interested, here's the history of this whole process: Discovered a mass on R breast - Nov 07 Mammogram and ultrasound - Nov 07 Visit to Surgeon - Dec 07 Scheduled biopsy - Jan 08 (cancelled since the radiologist couldn't find anything to biopsy) Repeat ultrasound and biopsy - Mar 08 Diagnosis of BC - Apr 1/08 (no fooling) Diagnosis: IDC (intraductal carcinoma, 1.4cm) Lumpectomy & Sentinel node biopsy - May 1 (after a hilarious, fantastic trip to Pawleys Island with Judy and Kim, thanks girls) Results - Stage 1/nodes negative (yeah!), 1.8cm, Grade 3 (aggressive little bugger), 3 clear margins, one too close to call so re-excision scheduled) Re-excision June 26 - no more invasive (yeah), but 'scattered, minute DCIS (cancer cells contained that haven't spread from the duct). Recommendation for mastectomy but after chemo Chemo starting Aug 11. 3 rounds FEC, 3 weeks apart then 3 rounds Doxetaxel + Herceptin, 3 weeks apart. Herceptin for another 48 weeks, every 3 weeks. That's all the pathological stuff.
