Introduction The Good Soup isn't just about recipes. No matter what the recipe, there are ok or fabulous ways to make it. This depends on its list of ingredients, but more with how the ingredients are sourced. Once found, ingredients can be lost, or their magic heightened, by their preparation. I hope The Good Soup is an experimental ground, where sourcing can be explored and cooking skills improved. So what would you like to learn? Are there recipes you'd like to make but have never dared? They might be as simple as mayonnaise or as challenging as roasted goose. Whatever it is, I'd like to hear about it. Do you have questions about where your food comes from and the impact it might be having on ecosystems, farmers and animals? Any particular products you have questions about? Throw them my way, via a blog comment or an email. If you want to keep up with what's happening on the blog, I recommend becoming a 'follower'. There's a link on every page to get you started.
Interests I am a cook, writer, researcher & teacher: Like so many Australian cooks, my culinary influences are diverse and colourful. Whatever dishes I teach or cook, my focus is on achieving depth and complexity in flavour and texture, and on building intuition and sensory knowledge in cooking practice. Vegan and vegetarian cooking are my specialty, but not my limitation... as my recent Jamón obsession attests. Interest key words: ethics, cooking, eating, farming, teaching, writing, compost, vegetarianism, omnivorism, pastry, baking, braising, salt, cheese, preserving, presalting, animal rights, animal ethics

Why don't you ever wear a scarf? It doesn't need to be cold outside for your neck to feel naked.

I do where a scarf. A lot.
