Introduction I'm a young fella not far from 73 who's made it to the far and frayed edges of the adventures I‘ve been hankering for since boyhood. The age thing and my pursuits are relevant since I now have advanced 4th stage cancer, moved from unsuccessful chemo treatment to oral med...and they seem to be working. Now, after selling the ranch, my beautiful life-mate of 48 years and I live and travel in an fifth wheel RV we call our "covered wagon". The new and rich development of 2012 is our purchase of ranch in the marvelous plateau above GRAND JUNCTION at the head of the Colorado National Monument where my young family with six children run a whole-family therapy ranch, DEEP RIVERS FAMILY RANCH.
Interests Meditating on the future and thinking and writing to affect it, intense focus on relating to God in a way that will touch the lives of my family and those around me, especially as relates to co-nurturing my grandchildren and writing "Generational Fathering, " enjoying this short life to the fullest in ways that leave a legacy of a man who finished well.
Favorite Movies Brave Heart, We Were Soldiers, Jeremiah Johnson, Top Gun, of course (my real-life role as a youth of 25), and (are you ready for this?) Sound of Music
Favorite Music Cowboy Western (ever hear Michael Martin Murphy or John Wylie?), Country Western, lilting Celtic instrumentals mix with a few war drums, and (especially!) thoughtful contemporary worship.
Favorite Books Sacred Romance/Wild at Heart/Waking the Dead/Walking with God (all Eldredge), Margin (Swenson)Christian Perfection (Fenelon), Gems (Tozer), Mere Christianity (Lewis).
