About me

Location Orlando, FL
Introduction Experience: More years than I care to tell you as a reporter, editor and newsroom manager. I’ve worked in England, South Africa - where I was declared a prohibited immigrant for coverage of the anti-apartheid movement – Canada and the United States. In 1973, I became the first woman to be appointed news editor by The Associated Press. I’ve covered and edited every type of story from riots, murders, courts, fires, British Royal tours, plane crashes, sea disasters, hurricanes, elections, political scandals and even golf and tennis. I loved working in a newsroom and can’t remember a day that was really boring. There is nothing better than the thrill of covering a big story. Warning – I have little patience with those who treat journalism as a 9-to-5 job. My last job was as deputy managing editor of the Orlando Sentinel.
