Introduction Presently, I work as a primary school teacher in Brunsbuettel/Schleswig-Holstein in Germany. I was trained in the subjects Home Economics, Clothing and Textiles and Industrial Arts. 1983-87 I worked in Kenya with the German Development Service (GDS). At an African secondary school I taught Home Economics and worked in the Agriculture Club of the school. 1988-90 I studied Home Economics and Intercultural Education at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. 1991-95, I was in Zimbabwe with GDS as an advisor in the Self-Help Development Foundation for women who had started income-generating projects. During that time I developed an interest in using solar cookers and became a member of the organisation "Solar Cookers International" which was founded in Sacramento/ California http://www.solarcookers.org. I am also a member of "Lazola.e.V." (Lazola Initiative for Spreading Solar Cooking) www.lazola.de and "L-H-L.e.V."(Lernen-Helfen-Leben) www.l-h-l.org .
