For the past thirteen years he has been employed at Cengage Learning in San Francisco. He is the editor of "Talking about History: Historians Discuss the Civil War" (2014), and was a principal contributor to and cartographer for the Library of Congress Civil War Desk Reference. David has organized group visits to America’s Civil War battlefields for the past two decades. In 2018 Woodbury Historical Tours will add other areas of interest to their tour offerings, beginning with a trip to the Little Bighorn in October.
