Introduction	I was born in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina in October, 1970. We moved to Greensboro, NC when I was six. Since then, I’ve visited some twenty-three other US states. I started traveling in my mid-twenties, and went to Spain, Morocco, Greece, Turkey, Haiti, and México. For work, I’ve rented videos, sold movie tickets, developed photos, bussed tables, cooked, catered, and even tended bar in an Istanbul basement. I worked at Kinko’s. Then, at thirty-four, I retired to follow mi amiga as her career rolls her around the world: Mexico again, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Macau, India, and Cambodia so far. I’ve been plagued by nebulous fascinations which make it difficult to focus on a given interest, to become proficient: art, cooking, movies, writing, fencing, drinking, animation, driving really fast, politics, shooting handguns, dancing, history, magic, and etc., are all things I feel I slighted on the way to the next dedicated interest. Since I never bothered with college, I figure now that I am in my mid-thirties I have the opportunity and right to take a few years off and dedicate them to self-improvement before planning this next third of my life.
