Introduction Linda Buckley-Archer was born in Sussex and raised in rural Staffordshire. Linda began her writing career as a freelance journalist and went on to write original dramas for Radio 4 and BBC 1 television. In her fictional work for young adults Linda is drawn to historical settings and themes which explore our concept of time. Written for her own children, The Gideon Trilogy (aka The Time Quake Trilogy) went on to be published in the UK and the US as well as being translated into ten foreign languages including Russian and Japanese. Gideon the Cutpurse was given a Highly Commended prize in the 2007 Branford Boase Award and the trilogy was twice nominated for the Carnegie Medal. She reviews for the Guardian and has been a judge for the Branford Boase Award and the Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize.
