Introduction Bristol Rose is a classically beautiful, semi-custom, nearly indestructible bluewater cruiser. She's a Shannon 43 Ketch designed and built by Walter Schulz, Shannon Boat Company, Bristol, Rhode Island. Currently sailing in Australia. THE HISTORY OF BRISTOL ROSE: Bristol Rose was launched in October 2002. Current owners purchased her from the original owners in Maryland in 2007. They'd sailed The Chesapeake Bay for a few years aboard their 30' S2. In 2008 they let go the lines, sailing away from the dock in Baltimore, Maryland on the adventure of a lifetime. After a year sailing the Bahamas and the Caribbean the family of 4 adults transited the Panama Canal, crossing the Pacific Ocean to Australia. Bristol Rose safely brought the crew to Brisbane on October 24, 2010. This blog records the sights, friends made, challenges and experiences along the way with updates in Australia.
